I have a question or two to ask, if I may.

1. When are you allowed on each floor? Honestly, the whole flooring system just confused me.

2. Can you rise in the social ladder? And what would make you do so, if possible? (If you cannot, change this into a suggestion.)

3. Are there any regulations for how life can be lived? Considering this is sci-fi, there may be a few out-of-the-ordinary things happening, and that could cause some cataclysmic results if not regulated in some way or another.

1: You may move between the upper floors as you wish. They are there to show different parts of society. The reasons the lower floors are restricted will be revealed in the narration. Think of them as different areas of a city. The installation is huge, and the reason for this "Flooring" system is nothing more than a way to separate different parts of society. While it not be the most effective way of structuring a society in space, it is justified in the context of the story by being an experimental installation.

2. That all depends. There needs to be regulation on what is allowed. It would be hard to implement due to the openness of character creation. For example you should not be allowed high level clearance for the reason that it can impede the narration. If you are a person with access to a lot of money and "Power" you could easily kill off other characters and solve problems within the story which otherwise could have served as a as an obstacle.

3. While it is sci-fi, the major focus is on character development, and most of the "Cataclysmic" events will happen in narration. But, if for example a character would find himself in a position where he can cause a such an event, it will be up to the person in question to make the decision.

EDIT: Do I need to create a character bio in the appropriate thread, and paste it into the sign up thread before participating? Because in the event I do, I haven't yet made one, so that may have to be something I must do.

You need to make a character, yes. It does, and paste it here. Post it later in the character bio if you feel like it.

The character biography does not need to be extensive and very detailed, but at least outline character traits and appearance.

When it is done, I will post it in the main roleplay thread.

The ends have blades facing in opposites directions and the naginata can be split in half and have each wielded in my hands.

Profession: Gambler, though professional is dependant on the day and who he plays with. He also has a part time job as a run around doctor should he be needed or if money is low from gambling.
Social status: Most see him as one of the lucky ones who don't have to live on the streets, despite how he does every now and again from gambling. He is also well known as a part time doctor in the higher levels but due to his gambling is seen as unreliable and sometimes not good despite how his patients always end up better than before. Money comes in all the time but how much and often depend on how he gets it.

Personality: Usually seen as cold and uncaring due to his poker face he keeps on at all times. Which in fact is far from the truth, he cares a great deal about friends and family as well as his patients. He takes in people from the street despite how sick they are and will often not charge them anything if they are dying or are that poor. In return he gets food or bits and pieces of things from those he helps or help when he is on the street. He is also smart but very introverted and so this only enforces his cold disposition as well how he hates wasting time and is by some seen as impatient. He can also be very cunning and manipulative when he needs to be or wants to be and as such has saved him from more than a few situations. Though despite all the good if he goes without a cigarette for more than half a day-1 day he becomes slightly more impatient as well as easier to anger which with his cigarettes is hard to do.

Flaws: His smoking addiction, his density to a more lack of common sense, he is ears though they can help him hear better are able to be used aginsthim if something high pitched is aimed at him. He is also more emotional than he lets on and will take things a bit more than intended such as his confidence which can change with ease. Physically he is also not stronger than average human which puts him at a disadvantge to others but counters this with his knowledge of the body and its weak points.

So, I worked a little on my character (I will also serve as the narrator. I will indicate when it is narration)

Just some ideas, I would love feedback and ideas to help me.

So, I have this so far:

Between 12-14, black hair, short. One leg was lost in an accident, so she has mechanical leg that doesn't give her an egde (Functions more or less like a normal one.) Lost one eye because of disease, so she wears an medical eyepatch to cover up the ruined eyes. Problem with memory...  She lives on the streets... She carries a small knife with her, though she is deadly afraid of any kind of violence... She carries a small knife with her, though she is deadly afraid of any kind of violence... She is very... Very bad at socializing and common sense.  She has no education whatsoever. She has a split personality though, because of trauma when she was younger. This other personality is near opposite of her normal, innocent one. Mean, calculating, manipulating and lying. I have ideas on how I will indicate who is who... Subtle changes is my writing... Oh, she is however good at cooking.

I'm thinking something like this for her leg:

So, a character bio? Well, I've got one. It may not really be the best biography, but it's something. So, I'll begin at the name, and make my way down with a few more things. (This is being told from a third-person perspective for the sake of easy describing.)

Introduction of the character
The character is called Kuri, and she's 17. Because of her age, she doesn't have features which may come with aging, such as any wrinkles. She has a pretty slim figure, but not slim enough to fall under "anorexic". Her complexion is pretty pale, for reasons which remain unknown, even to her family. Her hair and eyes are a strong colour, if not on other ends of the colour spectrum. With piercing blue eyes, and long, black hair, it creates quite a strange image, often resembling what some like to call a "vampire".

Personality traits + background story
Kuri has some traits which draw people away from her quite often. She's fairly withdrawn from engaging in conversation, and a very soft speaker, so people seldom hear her in the midst of heated conversation. She can also be quite emotional at times, often ending up falling into despair or sorrow. Often misunderstood, Kuri is thought to be evil and deceptive, while the reality is, she wants to help people as much as she can. She has a rather large vocabulary and intelligence in general, due to having lots of time to work on her intellect whilst isolated, but many tend to interpret this incorrectly, and see it as looking down upon them for their inferior intelligence.

*Background story begins here*
Kuri used to be isolated a lot for her own safety by her family. Her siblings would frequently attempt to pick on her when she was younger, being the youngest of the family. It used to be tolerable; general fighting among siblings. But it slowly escalated to the point where it was dangerous to step out of your room. The area between a room and the rest of the house was like stepping into the fray of a war zone.

It got to the point where one of Kuri's siblings was severely injured in a fight, enough to be taken into hospital. This was where the action to lock Kuri away from the rest was made by her parents. Because of this, she has always been quite sheltered from the happenings outside of her room. In turn, this has made her social skills not really up to scratch.

Ever since the time she was locked away, Kuri has never been able to grow much self-confidence, develop any strength, or really speak to anyone aside from her parents. She's developed a feeling of loneliness and tends to not feel too confident outside of isolated spaces. However, she is quite kind of heart. If she is able to, assistance will be given to anyone who requires it. There is but one more concern for Kuri... Life on this... Place. She's going to have to adapt to being outside of a confined space for extended periods of time to simply get to places. It's not going to be easy. Not at all. Not unless she finds what she wants on this place... A companion.

So, that's my biography done. Sorry that it doesn't have much content to it, I've been getting a lot of distractions whilst trying to work on it, and can't really focus very well. I felt that I might as well add my character's desire as justification as to why certain acts may happen.

EDIT: Your idea is quite good already Kitten, and the description is great. The only improvement I could give is to give a slight amount of extra description about things such as her past. (Please know however that I did like the mentioning of cooking being one of her fortes. Reminds me of someone...)

And now I have one final question, before we begin...

Well, I've written the opening narration. We have 2 (Plus me) more who are confirmed to participate, so I would suggest starting it. However, starting would just mean doing an opening post. Just post something in what way you would start it. For example, you could start with going to eat, or something. Really, just start.

(BTW, I'm going to work on my bio soon.) Just open with an action in some way.

Starting is always the hardest.

OK, after a lot of thought and consideration, I came to the conclusion that I should give my character some talent out of the ordinary. And I decided to make that talent enhanced agility. It isn't going to make her combat proficiency much better, but it'll be helpful in general, I imagine. My character's planned out to be the type to try to avoid conflict anyway.

Sophie//Dollie. Twelve years old.

[Appearance]

She has short and rugged black hair, kept in bangs over her left eye, which is also covered with a white medical eye-patch. Her left eye is black and red veins are visible, and it does not work. Her right eye is deep brown, nearly appearing red [This]. Her face, while often unclean, radiates innocence and child-like curiosity. Her hands are small, and her right hand is lightly scarred due to an accident with her knife. Her only set of clothes is a pair of rugged black trousers, a white T-shirt and a black teared and rugged coat. Her right leg is replaced with a mechanical one [This], and the pants' right leg is torn of as to not impede the function of the leg.

[Personality]

She is a very innocent and shy, often hiding when strangers try to talk to her, sometimes even going so far as to deny food from people offering her some. She's never seen a single person who has cared for her, so she doesn't understand that people might want to help her. This has lead her to develop a fear of people, as she thinks they will always try to hurt her or use her for their own gain.

All this has lead her to isolate herself from other people, only showing herself when she's desperate for food. She can barely take care of herself, and her lack of education and common sense makes her more reliant on other people than she understands herself.

There is more to her than it seems, though. Her fear of people and past has lead her to develop an imaginary friend and twin personality that she calls "Dollie". In her head, Dollie is a nice caring person, her best friend and the only person who understands her, but when the Dollie personality emerges she isn't so nice. Dollie is a outgoing and mean girl, who has no problems with manipulating, lying and even attack and hurt other people. Sophie does not remember the periods when she is Dollie, but they do not happen often and are usually short, usually lasting between three to five hours.

[Other]

Sophie has problems with memory, and remembers nearly nothing from more than five years back, and having trouble with remembering names and places.

She carries a folding knife with her at near all times, and while not skilled with it, she can cause damage. [This]

Her most impressive skill however is that she is very skilled at cooking with what little she have.

If she really tries to, she can lie and manipulate her way around people, usually with guidance of Dollie

[Past]

She remembers nearly nothing from more than five years back, and even the time after that is hard to remember for her.

The memories she remembers the most detail is the ones she fears the most.

The time she scarred her hand was the same day she got her folding knife. She found it on the street, and took it upon herself to clean it. She didn't really know what it was was, but while cleaning it she accidentally cut her hand, causing a relatively deep wound, resulting in the scar she has today.

Her eye was destroyed in a sickness she was only able to survive due to the charity of an old woman who she never thank for due to her fear of people and poor understanding of manners. The disease however resulted in the loss of her eye, which now is black with very visible red veins.

Her leg was always weak, and when she fell and opened a wound on her right leg, and it was infected and caused necrosis. She does not remember how, but a young man found her and helped her to a young doctor who decided to amputate the leg and attach the leg to her. She barely knows how money work herself, and does not understand at all how, and why, the doctor spent money on a her.

A certainly impressive description, to say the least. You also accomplished the objective of keeping most of your character's past a mystery. Something I'd most likely fail in doing, for reasons I am yet to fully understand.

And just out of curiosity, how is the place our characters are in run? Is there a government system? If there is, the method of governing I'm guessing at is plutocracy, but I may be wrong.

You are right, Renny, it is a plutocracy. Oh, just a reminder to everyone. As we want everyone to have a chance to enjoy the roleplay, it would be nice of no one post every second post.

Name: Subject #692 code name: Sero
Race: Artificial human male
Age: ?? Never knew.
Created: ???
Status: Failed….or so you think
Personality: None was created to be emotionless
Appearance: Being made originally as a human had black hair blue eyes and was 5’6. After a life of experiments Sero is 6 feet in a white red skin suit that covers all but his head and serves as a data hub for his status and body functions that can never be removed and black armor mechanical leggings and chest that offer protection and combat use. Has a broken head piece that covers one eye while the other is free and uses it for data collection and analysis. The arms have a sliver rusted piece that covers from 3inches from the shoulder to the entire arm to a grey metal glove that serves to enhance strength and use combat powers designed for security though now most are broken and only stun lasers are used though Sero’s strength and durability are all he needs still.

Subject #692 “Sero” was a secret Artificial human clone by a now dead group of scientist trying to make the perfect human and remote controlled mech to be used for security and other means of use. #692 was cloned to resemble a human male at the age of a young adult, why this form only those hated scientist knew. #692 was as his number stated clone #692 for that is how many clones died during the test and #692 was there most “precious” clone merely cause he it survived most the tests. These scientist were monsters and their “tests” were more like torture of unbearable things that any normal being would have died like a fly. #692 was put through 468 tests and made to feel them all very well and remember each in detail. This was to break any emotion and create pain tolerance for #692 or so they say. Though for #692 it was held they were sadist who were using him as a toy. Well it worked by the 468 test #692 was a shell having lost all feelings and emotions….Then the real work began.

It was procedure 9. This procedure was made for the transfer from human to mech though only once it was used though the subject went rogue and was killed by what they described as getting electrocuted to death. #692 was made to be awake while the procedure worked even though the pain to turn him into it a mech like being. However it worked to a degree. #692 was transformed and named Sero it left him barely alive but functioning. So then the test to control it were performed till the last one. This test was to see if Sero could kill without mercy or moral against live people they kidnapped. It was till the last one a child did Sero refuse and was when it was found they added a way to control Sero. Needless to say the child died but not before Sero used what will he had left to destroy his controller and the scientists were all killed though they saw this too and set off a shutdown that put Sero in an eternal standby mode that also erased his memories. Where is Sero after that is anyone’s guess.

Name: Miya "Mitts" Tiri
Gender: Female
Race: Human
Age: 14

Appearance: Moderate height, long, messy, somewhat straight brown-black hair, deep hazel eyes. She is thin, though she usually wears thick clothing, she rarely removes her black hoodie and usually wears thick black, baggy pants. Her clothes are dirty, stained and caked in grime, even when she gets a chance to, she prefers not to change her clothes, they've served her well, keeping her warm and safe. She is pale, and under her clothing her body is badly scarred, everywhere. She has one scar on her face, a deep cut on her right cheek.

Past: She has been on her own her whole life, her parents were murdered my loan sharks in front of her at an early age, after they were done with her and making them watch. She was beaten, her hands were carved up and burnt, leaving them extremely scarred, then she was left to die. Against all odds, she survived. She lived alone on the streets for years, being abused and mistreated others, eventually falling in line with a roaming group of delinquents that taught her how to protect herself. They babied and pitied her, teaching her everything she needed to know to survive. They were all killed shortly afterwards by another group of punks over an unknown debate. She was once again alone, but she had some means of defending herself with the things they left behind. She spends most of her days just trying to survive. Keep warm at night and eat enough so you don't fade away... Her only daily objectives. Things she's gotten good at over the years...

People always call her "Mitts" because she hides her horribly disfigured hands within thick, faded pink gloves, that, while wearing all black and sitting alone in the streets, are her only real defining feature.

Personality: Rarely speaks, because of her history of abuse, she'd just rather not be noticed. She can be vulgar, rude and goofy at times, and hides a soft side that peeks out every once and a while. While she avoids showing people her scars, she is not very sensitive about them, and doesn't care too much for beauty either. She dislikes violent people, and violence in general because of her past.

She always wears her spiked knuckles that she made herself after her parents death and tweaked over the years. They are identical, not very well hidden, bent metal bars that have sharpened shards of metal sticking forward from them. The spikes are small and won't easily kill a person, but will cause a large amount of pain with every hit. She uses them mainly for intimidation and to avoid fights, rather than as weapons. She also carries a concealed pistol on her at all times, from her (deceased) friends. She knows how to use it and has a decent supply of ammunition from the black market, though the quality of the ammunition is low, meaning it will only be lethal at close to medium range.

Despite wearing her brass knuckles and being an excellent survivalist, she is physically vulnerable from her lack of nourishment and can't take much of a beating. It is also difficult for her to communicate, as she rarely speaks, making her socially inept. She may shy away from some people, if they remind her of her abusive past.
